POEMS
The Bridge listen
There is a wall between you and me
which we can,t see.
Wall of the borders . wall of language
, wall of history and life
If we broke this wall.
The wall would fall and float on
the sea.
And be a big bridge that connect
countrys over sea.
The Fire listen
In August, all Japanese call "no
more war".
But, how many people can say when
a war is to begin?
In May, people call solidarity of
workers.
But, aren't there people who get
discrimination in your work?
Haven't you turned your eyes away
from small injustices in your life?
A person who can't extinguish even
a cigarette's ,can't extinguish the fire.
THR HARASSMENT
listen
Naoyama is a very good tennis player.
He plays tennis every afternoon at
the company's tennis court.
Then one day no one returned his
service ball. not even his good friend
Could you return the shot. Could
you return the shot.
Could you return the shot.
Could you return my shot.
A friend of Yamamoto will have a
wedding.
The friend came to his house with
a bottle of whiskey and said.
I want to you to attend our wedding
party, but if I invite you, I will lose my job.
I am sorry. I am sorry. I am sorry.
Mr Yamamoto.
Kawabata performed his experiment
in the lab.
One day his work was thrown in to
the garbage can.
When he protested all his remaining
work was thrown in to the can as well.
Why did you. Why did you. Why did
you throw it away
Why did you. Why did you. Why did
you throw away my work.
I was the leader of the mandolin
club.
We had been playing the instruments
in togetherness.
The members quit the club one by
one.
Because their bosses threatened them
to quit.
Please don't quit. Please don't quit.
Please don't quit
Our mandolin club.
One sheet
of flier listen
My desire and my anger are contained in this flier.
My voice and my life are contained
in this flier.
The iron gate lined with barbed wire
tears workers solidarity.
One sheet of flier is a small chain
linking the inside to outside the gate.
I fold in half. I fold in quarter.
from small to secret.
hand it over hand it over hand over
the fliers.
Please take it .I wish you'd take
it.
I shout deep-felt words in my heart.
Please take it .I wish you'd take
it.
hand it over hand it over hand over
the fliers.
I'll never forget I'll never forget.
my friends hands taking the fliers
with smiles.
I'll never forget I'll never forget.
The delight of that day.
I'll never forget I'll never forget.
My friend's cold shoulder passing
by.
I will never cover it up. I will
never cover it up.
The sadness of that day. my feeling
of sorrow
I feel delight because I am struggling.
I feel sadness because I am struggling.
WAR
listen
Those who know they shouldn't wage
war because it is cruel why repeat it?
It is important to recognize war
is cruel.
But it's not enough to stop war.
War is always waged for justice .War
is always waged for peace.
Those who have "candy or whip"
control public opinion using a loyalty test as
a weapon.
This war is waged for an international
contribution.
Anyone who doesn't cooperate is a coward.
This war is waged for justice in
order to defend a nation.
A person who opposes is not patriotic
People begin to be washed away like
a sand mountain by
"candy or whip" and loyalty test.
In time no one can say we should
not wage war because it is cruel.
For example. Can you criticize discrimination
and injustice
of your company from inside?
For example.have you ever stopped
bullying in your school?
For example, Haven't you ever turned
your eyes away from the unfairness of your local community?
Aren't you looking on with folded
arms to social injustice you must correct?
Someday the Draft system may be introduced
in Japan.
Just as HINOMARU and KIMIGAYO were
introduced in schools.
Someday your children may be given
a Draft warrant.
Just as a transfer order is issued
to you from your company.
PATRIOTISM listen
Some people call the backside of hatred patriotism.
Mother Earth doesn't want war.
A gentle person has also been killed.
killed by a gentle person.
Do you love your country?
Do you love the people all over the world?
To watch our country's faults historically,
does not mean that we should close our eyes to other country's
faults.
Don't make anyone you love sorry.
Do you love your country?
Do you love the people all over the world?
Not to conflict with other countries,
not to boast, not to hate,
not to believe that only your own country is right
Let's struggle against poverty and oppression accross all borders.
Do you love your country?
Do you love the people of the world?
When you march with the same flag and the same song ,you may feel
that the war is gallant.
There were eras where people who shouted that the war was wrong
were killed .
Terror disguises itself as Justice.
let's not repeat such eras.
Do you love your country?
Do you love the people of the world?
With such unreasonableness it looks like small matters will burn
the world some day.
Your struggle and life will protect the future of your children.
Let's gather a little courage and send it to the people of the
world.
We love our country.
We love the people all over the world
THE CASE
OF K listen
I was Mr, Tanaka's coworker.
I was confident at my job. I was
proud of my job also .
I opposed the dismissal. I hated
the loyalty test .
I didn't do the calisthenics. I hated
the harassment.
I was encouraged by Tanaka .
He continued to protest against the
calisthenics
by sitting down at his desk .
I was asked by the sub-section chief
to support an election .
I refused to do it.
My junor coworker,who I trained,
said coarse words in front of many begining that day.
When I went out of the employee restaurant,
the plaza was crowded with people.
The candidates at the side of the
company were speaking.
The audience shouted with cheers
every time.
Next was Tanaka's turn.
The air moved.
The audience turned towards me.
They were all pale faced.
It was silent.
My knees shook.
People came flowing toward me.
I couldn't stay there.
I heard the Tanaka's speech it was
chasing me.
I was stumbling .
My section chief invited me for a
drink.
He said " you can be a nominee
for sub-section chief ".
Making small talk, he talked of the
calisthenics again.
My parents were pushing me to get
married.
But my salary was too low .
They didn't permit me to work overtime
to get money.
I went to Tanaka's house for a drink.
I said I will do the calisthenics
from tomorrow.
He said you should decide for yourself.
His words were soft-hearted. But
that made it harder for me.
Time has flown.
As a crowd of workers crosses the
traffic light,
"a singing voice" begins
to be heard.
I cover my ears.
I go through the gate and become
a "company person"once again today also.
ISN'T
IT BAD? listen
We know to kill is bad.
We know to steal is bad.
We know to deceive is bad.
We know to destroy is bad.
Isn't it bad to discriminate?
Isn't it bad to exclude?
Isn't it bad because it inside of a company?
Isn't it bad because others do it as well?
Some one says to go against order
is bad.
Some one says to criticize is bad.
Some one says to live free is bad.
Some one says to differ other is bad.
Isn't it bad to subserve?
Isn't it bad to give up?
Isn't it bad to gang up?
Isn't it bad to stop thinking for yourself?
Let' be
real listen
You accepted a transfer order for
the family you love.
You told a lie to your self.
Is it true your broken family is
happy?
broken family is happy?
Let's be more real
Let's be human.
You are more tender.
You are stronger.
You said, We can't live if you are
too honest.
You stood on the harassing side.
Are there true friends of yours at work?
true friends at work?
You said, That's not my concern.
You pretend to ignore the harassment.
Can you show your behavior to your children? to your children?
You give up your own life by yielding
to the powerful.
Do you know?
People can live more humanly only by struggling.
The High
Pride listen
Let us Talk to children about living
with high pride.
Let us Tell about the struggle to
keep high pride.
Let us talk about the importance
of democracy to children.
Let us set an example of living for
peace.
Have you forgotten? Only 100 years
before,
human rights were worse than now.
Those who struggled achieved what
we have today.
Even if you feel you struggle in
vain,
It'll make a change in 100 years
to come.
